OpenJDK (Open Java Development Kit) is a free and open source implementation of the Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE). The Microsoft Build of OpenJDK binaries are based on OpenJDK source code, following the same build scripts used by the Eclipse Adoptium project and tested against the Eclipse Adoptium Quality Assurance suite (including OpenJDK project tests). Rest assured, Java is still free, thanks to the OpenJDK Project. OpenJDK Microsoft is committed to working with industry partners on OpenJDK for the common good of the Java Ecosystem. Downstream builds are then created from the OpenJDK Project source code found on GitHub. The Microsoft Build of OpenJDK is a new no-cost long-term supported distribution and Microsoft's new way to collaborate and contribute to the Java ecosystem.
